Steve Barnard has a global vision that rivals those on Wall Street. In 1983, he saw the opportunity for avocados and made it a reality. Since then, he has pioneered the avocado industry through his forward-thinking business approach and can-do attitude. As the co-founder, President and CEO of Mission, Steve is responsible for making critical business decisions and paving the general direction of the organization. In his tenure, Barnard led the successful buyout of international partnerships, played a key role in navigating strategic shifts such as investing in Mexico, Peru and China, and was the brains behind the avocado ripening program concept. He has held numerous agribusiness board positions and in 2003, was awarded The Packer’s “Produce Marketer of the Year” and Cal Poly’s Alumnus of the Year for the School of Agriculture. Steve has served on the Boards of Sunkist and the California Avocado Commission. He is past chairman of the Produce Marketing Association and past chairman of Western Growers Association. Steve enjoys eating avocado toast for breakfast.
Bryan Giles

Bryan Giles is an innate problem-solver and skilled financial planner, with over 20 years of management experience in finance, accounting and auditing. As CFO, Bryan oversees financial planning, control structure, management of risks, financial forecasting and acquisitions. Among his many achievements at Mission, Bryan contributed to the company’s most profitable year in its history and played a critical role in the acquisition of Grupo Arato. Before joining Mission, Giles worked at Tecom Industries Inc., a division of Smiths Group, in multiple capacities including Vice President of Finance & Administration and Vice President of Finance – MSS Technology Group. Prior to this, he oversaw a group of military technology companies with revenues of ~$200m at Smiths Group. Smiths Group is a diversified, multi-national manufacturer of highly engineered projects with multibillion-dollar annual revenues. Bryan launched his career at Deloitte & Touche after graduating top of his business class. He holds a CPA license in California. Giles likes to eat avocados fresh cut with “Everything but the Bagel” seasoning!
Mike Browne

Mike Browne is a keen strategist and respected leader who has reaped nearly 40 years of success in worldwide production, procurement and distribution of fresh avocados and other produce items. The past 30 years, Mike excelled in executive roles with private and public companies. As the COO, Browne leads operations while working in concert with the CEO and department heads in developing strategies for each department’s success, targeting attainment of aggressive growth goals while improving efficiencies. Throughout his career, Mike served on several association and commission boards including the Mexican Hass Avocado Import Association, the California Avocado Commission and the California Avocado Society, among others. Two of his favorite ways to enjoy avocados are sliced alongside any type of egg breakfast or sliced on top on a side-salad with heirloom tomatoes, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Anita Lemos is a reliable and driven human resources professional who provides executive strategy for staffing, leadership development, onboarding, culture, employee relations, compensation and benefits. As VP of HR, Lemos has directed efforts that have resulted in: a three tier leadership training program, improving employee morale, work ethic and communication; streamlined companywide talent acquisition practices; and a top-down inclusion strategy, instituting a more diverse and gender inclusive company. One of her major contributions has been spearheading the Mission Produce Foundation, which has resulted in a greater level of company consciousness. Anita loves to eat avocados for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and her favorite dishes are chicken/avocado soup and avocado and sprouts on a croissant.

Garnering over 35 years’ tenure at Mission, Ross Wileman is a personable, competitive and seasoned team leader. As an accomplished industry expert, Wileman has experience managing high-performance sales and marketing teams, international business development projects, product management strategies and global industry relations. Ross is known for his poised demeanor; as a top-level executive, he understands challenges before reacting. For many years, Wileman served on both the California Avocado Commission and Avocado Inspection Commission. He enjoys all types of avocado-based dishes such as avocado toast, guacamole and plain avocado with salt and pepper.
Jim Donovan

Those who know Jim Donovan refer to him as the company’s leading networker. Donovan is an outward facing people person, market expert and analytically focused 36-year Mission veteran, so it is all too fitting that he holds an executive position in global information and industry affairs. In his current capacity, Jim establishes strong relationships to drive category growth, provides senior level insight into industry happenings and practices, and offers strategic orientation and global alignment strategies. Throughout his career, Jim has obtained a commanding knowledge of all-things avocado from global sourcing to international sales and industry relations to business development. He was able to conceptualize the potential of our industry from a small, niche specialty fruit to a global, mainstream food. Donovan often indulges in a half an avocado with some salt and pepper and a spoon.
Jeremy Warren

Jeremy Warren has served as Corporate Counsel for Mission Produce since February 2016. In this role, he oversees all the company’s legal matters. Warren was appointed Mission’s Corporate Secretary in 2019. In this capacity, he advises the Board of Directors and manages all aspects of the company’s corporate governance. Jeremy also serves as a Director for the Mission Produce Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Prior to joining Mission, he served as a Deputy District Attorney in Tulare and Kings County. Prior to his time as a prosecutor, Jeremy managed a successful branch office in Costa Rica for BLP Legal, one of the most prominent law firms in Central America. Warren was also an associate of the litigation law firm Lawrence, Beach, Allen & Choi, where he specialized in the defense of government entities in state and federal courts, up to and including jury trial. Jeremy is a member of the California State Bar, the Ventura County Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1995 and the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1998. Though he enjoys many avocado dishes, Jeremy is a devotee to the world’s most classic duo: chips and guacamole.
